Found 2 Pennies, Play Money, and Fossils

Today I went up to Payson, Arizona with my son and two grandkids. We had a really good time! 

First we stopped at a thrift store and found a few cool things. That small town had at least four thrift stores. We only visited one, but that's my kind of place! 

Next, we went to a park. The kids played, we walked around, then we tried to fly some cheap dollar store kites. Uh, don't bother. The kites both broke really quickly, but it was fun. At the park I found these two pennies!

Then we went to lunch and ate yummy food. 

Back in the car to visit a "paleo site" where we searched for fossils. On the walk in, I spotted what I thought was a penny, but it was play money! Can you pick out the play money in the photo? 

It was fun till I slipped on some loose rocks and sprained my ankle. Man does it hurt! It was still fun but just painful to hobble around, but I'll live. We found a lot of small invertebrates in large rocks then I found this fossilized shell lying on the ground! After that we found quite a few others. That was a blast.

Great Day for Finding Money!

Today I had to run a few errands. While out I found 10 coins:

• a penny on the sidewalk
• a penny and a dime in the street
• a penny in a drive through lane
• a penny on the floor of the dollar store
• a penny in the parking lot of the dollar store
• four pennies in the coin machine tray at the grocery store

Woo hoo!

Update:  I took a walk and found another penny! That makes a grand total of 20 cents found today.

Found a Torqued Quarter and a Penny in the Street

I needed a little break from editing this morning, so I took a little walk around the outside of my complex. I spotted this quarter in the street as cars were zooming by. I waited for a break in traffic and scooped it up. Look at it! It's bent and torqued. I have no idea what someone had to do to get it in this shape! 

Then I turned the corner and found this penny in the street, near the sidewalk. 

Yippee! I plan to talk a longer walk later. Maybe I'll get lucky again and find some more deformed coins!

UPDATE:  I took a walk this evening and found another penny in a parking lot!

And Two Pennies Makes $25!

Today I walked a few blocks to the store for a few things. Actually I didn't need anything but I had a couple for TP that was going to expire tomorrow and wanted to use it. 

On the way home, I spotted these two pennies lying in the dirt next to the sidewalk so I snapped them up. 

That brings my 2013 found money total to $25! This surpasses last year (my best year to date till now) by nearly $10. Yay!

Found a Dime Then a Penny at Fry's

Today I ran to Fry's for a few things. I spotted a dime on the floor in front of the pharmacy, but there was a line of customers so I left, figuring one of them would see it and pick it up. I came back a little while later and it was still there! At least four people where right there, probably stepping on it. Amazing!

Then when I checked out I saw a penny in the chute of the change tray. I wiggled the penny a little and down it fell.

Found Three Pennies Today Plus Two More!

Today I found three pennies. Here's where:

• in the change tray at Fresh and Easy
• on the curb in front of my car at my son's house
• on the counter at McDonald's

My grandson found a penny in the parking lot and my granddaughter found a penny in the drive through at McDonalds. Yay, us!

And look at the years:  one is 1937 and one is 1963. Nice!

Took a Walk and Found a Dime in the Street

This evening just before dark I headed out and took a little walk. It's getting dark so much sooner that it was dark by the time I got home. But as I was crossing a street, I spotted this dime in the street. As you can see, it's been driven over a lot. It's really scratched up. I can't read the date, but that's okay. It's still a fine dime for my found money jar!
