Good Riddance 2020... Hello 2021!

Are you as eager to kick 2020 to the curb as I am? Yep, I thought so.

This year has pretty much sucked with Covid-19 rearing its ugly head and taking so many lives. I'm thrilled we have vaccines, and I hope they can be administered in a more timely manner going forward. PLEASE take the vaccine when you can. Please.

And of course I'm thrilled we will have a new president in less than a month. I'm sick and tired of the idiot occupant of the White House (and anyone who approves of him). Seriously. SICK and TIRED of him and his lies and his hate and his racist ways. I could go on, but nope, life's too short.

Basically, there is an end in sight to the damage he's done. YAY! We can get back on track and have a sane world again.

Since I last posted nearly two months ago, I've found quite a few coins. No bills this time, but that's okay. This time I found $12.22. This closes out 2020 at $64.57. Not bad!

Here is a photo of most of the money I found this time. I took this photo a few days ago and since then, I found a bit more. Today I took a walk and found three cents. I don't care if it's a penny or a dollar, I just love finding money!

I've been watching Bridgerton on Netflix and love it! I've been rationing the eight episodes and will watch one more tonight before I go to bed. If I wanted to stay up till midnight I could finish them all, but I'm an old lady who can barely make it to 10:30 these nights. And that's okay.

I do sometimes read a little later but not often. I'm reading Elizabeth McCracken's latest book, Bowlaway. It's good -- weird, like most of her books -- but good. What are you reading?

I hope you are doing well and are healthy. Take care of yourself. We're within spitting distance of a new year. That's good. And be sure to look down. You might find some money!

Biting My Nails Till This Election Is Over

I don't know about you but I am SICK and TIRED of seeing and hearing the election ads and lies and BS. And I'm REALLY sick and tired of the current occupant of the White House.

He has to go.

I've got my fingers (and toes and eyes) crossed that Biden wins. By a huge, huge, huge margin.

So, enough of that.

What are we here for? Oh yeah, my found money. It's been almost two months since I last posted here. And in that time I've found $9.15!

Love, love, love finding money!

As you can see, I found three, count 'em!, three dollar bills! Woo hoo. And I found a whole bunch of coins. I just love to find money!

It's been so dry here, not much rain lately at all. So, I got some of this stuff and it's helping my scaly skin feel a tad more like sand than sandpaper. Not healed but better. A lot better.

Do you have alligator skin like me?

I hope you're hanging in there and doing well. Take care and look down. You might find some money!

Found Money and It's Still Hot

Even though it's September, it's still hot. At least here it is. I'm still getting out walking a lot and this morning found a quarter on my walk! Yay! That's it in the photo, that little round thing in the center.

All told I've found $6.32 since my last post in early August. Not too bad.

And I found a 1983 Canadian penny! I haven't found much foreign money lately.

I also found a 1948 wheat penny. Love finding those!

And I found a dollar bill on a walk. I was cruising through a wash, minding my own business, careful not to trip over the tree limbs, shrubs, and weeds. Then I saw the scraggly paper bill caught on a weed.

At first I wasn't sure what it was but it's a buck! It's dirty and torn, but it's still money!

Check out this funny bank. So cute if you need a place to stick the coins you find!

I hope you're hanging in there and doing well. Take care and look down. You might find some money!

Finding Hot Money on the Ground

Here in Arizona when you find money on the ground in August, it's more than likely hot. Not stolen hot, heat hot.

That's been the case lately when I pick up coins on the pavement (think parking lots, fast food drive throughs, the street). And I'm finding money right and left. Since the end of June when I last posted I've found $7.49, all in coins.

I know, you're saying to yourself:  So, that's where all the coins have gone! Not sure what's happening, but maybe people are hoarding currency for the apocalypse.

Speaking of the pandemic / plague, it's still hovering in most of the US. Don't know about you, but I've been a tad stressed. You?

I think it's totally normal and to be expected. But I recently was talking to a friend / neighbor I walk with about how I have trouble many nights falling asleep. My mind won't shut off and I've also been known to wake up and not be able to tall back asleep. And not getting enough sleep is not good and does nothing to improve my mood or stress level the next day.

She said she takes magnesium at night. She started taking it for restless leg syndrome, and it worked immediately. I looked up magnesium and saw that when it's taken in the evening, before bedtime, it works to help you calm down to sleep. So, I got some and OMG! The first night I took it (400 mg) I slept well and woke up feeling rested and much calmer than I've been in ages.

A doctor told me several years ago that most of us have a magnesium deficiency. I heard him but didn't do much about it. I'm all for doing what I can to improve my health and make myself more comfortable. It sucks being miserable!

I hope you're hanging in there and doing well. Take care and look down. You might find some money!

Money Money Money, Finding It Is Easy to Do

So, I've taken too long to post my latest found money. But I've been busy. Sort of. I've been staying home. Mostly. I've been bored. Sometimes.

As you can see, I don't really have a good excuse.

Anyway, this pandemic is certainly strange, isn't it? I'm not going out as much as normal but when I do venture out to the post office or the grocery store (and occasionally to a dollar store or Walmart, ugh), I am still finding money.

Since April when I last posted I've found $12.48 in coins!

I've also found several foreign coins (from Vietnam, Iceland, Mexico, Canada, and Europe), and I found a flattened penny (like someone put it on a train track maybe; it's just flat, not the embossed kind from one of those flat penny machines), and I found a carwash token.

I still find it strange (and wonderful) to find a pile of coins in the tray of a coin machine. Okay, so a few of them are usually gnarly looking or stuck together, but many coins are useable, like the three quarters and two dimes plus a few pennies I found just this morning in a coin machine tray at the grocery store. I don't get it. Well, when I find them, I do get it. So that's good.

Have you been staying in? Going out? Working from home? Back at work? Whatever you're doing, I hope you're staying safe, wearing a mask when out and about, and keeping away from people.

I've been reading more. I zipped through American Dirt a few weeks ago in record time. This novel about migrants coming north through Mexico was a real eye opener. Even though it received flack for it being written by a woman who is not Mexican (why should that matter?) and about characters that many critics didn't find to be typical (the characters were well fleshed out and believable), I loved it.

Still Finding Money During the Pandemic

I don't know about you, but I'm still going out during this self-isolation that we all are supposed to be doing. Of course I am trying to be careful by wearing a cloth face mask I made, going into stores to get what I need and getting out quickly, using hand sanitizer or a wipe when I leave stores, washing my hands when I get home.

That sort of thing. But I'm also taking lots of walks, mostly alone or with Mister Tom, just to get out of the house.

In fact, my life hasn't changed that much since this is what I was mostly doing before. I do miss hitting thrift stores since they're now closed, but other than that, not that much is all that different. I do miss getting together with family and friends though.

How about you? Are you going stir crazy or holding up okay? I hope everyone's doing just fine. And staying healthy, of course.

I am still finding money. In fact since my last blog post I've found $7.47. Not too bad.

Here's a photo of the money I've found. I even found three Mexican coins. In Mexico! I went to Mexico a few times to the dentist, and on two visits there I found the coins.

It was pretty cool to know that the locals there drop coins just like we do here.

Have you had good luck finding everything you need right now?

As for me, I've done okay. I had a good supply of toilet paper on hand thanks to running out about 2 weeks before the scramble began. I'd gone to Costco and bought one of their mega packs, which I still have some of. And while at Fry's (Kroger) a few weeks ago I was in the store  when they restocked so I grabbed a big package.

One thing I haven't been able to find is hand sanitizer but that's not something I've ever been a big user of. I would buy some if I found it.

In case you want to try your hand at making your own, here's a book to check out if you want. I have a ton of aloe vera plants so just need to track down some alcohol (the rubbing kind, not the drinking kind).

Well, guess that's it for now. Stay safe and take care.

Almost Two Months into 2020: Found Money Status

Well, I've dragged my feet for almost two months before updating my found money blog. It seems like this year is flying by, and each time I think of writing a blog post, I get distracted by something or other (like a cup of coffee or an episode of American Greed or something else equally important).

So, here we go. My first blog post of this year.

I've been finding plenty of money lately. In fact, I've found two $1 bills. Sometimes it takes me well into the year before I find paper money so this is starting out as a good year for finding money.

I found one of the bills in line at the grocery store. I watched two people stand there and pay for their stuff until it was my turn. Neither of them picked it up so score! I snapped it right up.

Today I found 15 cents (a nickel and a dime) in a water vending machine. Pretty much every day lately when I go somewhere, I find a few coins.

In all, since the first of the year I've found $9.44! Woo hoo. I also found a Mexican coin.

Mister Tom begged me for some new treats the other day, so I got him some of those stick style deals. Kinda like these. He really likes them.

What about you? Have you found any money recently? Please let us know!

Ending the Year: How Much Money Did I Find in 2019?

As I lay in bed last night listening to fireworks going off (and too tired and uninterested to get up and watch them), I remembered I was supposed to write this found money blog post!

But, since it was after midnight so technically January 1, 2020, I blew it off, too.

So, I found a fair bit of money in the past few weeks, since my last post here. I found $2.64 so that brings my found money total for 2020 to a whopping $63.36.

Not too bad! It's more than I make in a year on some of my investments, so what the heck.

An online friend just published his first children's book, and the drawings and story are so cute. Take a look if you have a youngster in your life.

Happy New Year, 2024 and So Long, 2023

Well, here we are. The end of another year. I think this will be the end of my found money blog. I think it's run its course, but I'...
