A Shiny Dime in the Green Grass

Today I ran out to pick up the last two seasons of Nip/Tuck at the Scottsdale Library. I thought the show sounded so stupid (plastic surgery--yuck!) but I picked up season one a few weeks back and was instantly hooked! If you haven't seen it, check it out. My my. I even wrote an article about the top five quotes from Nip/Tuck.

So, I was all done, had driven home, and was walking to my condo. What did I see but this shiny dime in the grass. Woo hoo!

Rode My Bike, Found a Penny

Today I ventured out since I have sort of been sticking around home the past few days. I rode my bike up to Fresh and Easy. It's about 5 miles round trip, which really doesn't seem that bad on a bike. I sure wouldn't walk that far though.

After I parked my bike and locked it up, I found this penny near the shopping carts. Ta da! I went in and shopped knowing I couldn't buy anything heavy or bulky because it had to fit in my backpack. (Dora singing "Backpack, backpack" just entered my brain.) I did find a wilting basil plant for $1.94 (on clearance) so brought that bad boy home.

Oh! On the way home, I saw a cute little yappy dog, a Pomeranian, I think, roaming around right on a busy street, so I followed it and tried to get it to stop so I could check its tags or to even see if it was wearing tags. It led me a couple blocks, we went down an alley, then it stopped and it looked like it was going to let me pet him (he peed several times, it was a him) when all of a sudden he went all Cujo on me and snarled, bared his teeth and growled at me. Then he came at me and they don't call those little things ankle-biters for nothing. I said, "Phooey" (actually I cussed) and let him roam. I went on home.

America the Beautiful Quarter and 12 cents!

Yesterday I ran a few errands and found a dime in my driveway then 2 pennies in the parking lot at Fresh and Easy. Woo hoo! Then later, I was looking through my change in my purse and found a quarter I'd never seen before. It was an America the Beautiful quarter, the first quarter released in the series:   the Hot Springs National Park. The quarter features a  doorway of the main Park’s building with a fountain in front at Hot Springs National Park.

I read about this programs, and five quarters were released last year. The others are Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Mount Hood national parks. Hmmm. Has anyone seen any of these quarters before? I can't believe I've missed them!

Look for a park to visit yourself at ParkGrades!

Found a Quarter!

The weather is shaping up very nicely around here lately. Today the high will be 72. That's just about perfect! So I rode my bike around the neighborhood. Took some old tortillas to the park and fed the birds, cruised around some more then rode through some parking lots.

And what did I find? This quarter! It's a state quarter, Minnesota.

Yesterday I went with 2 grandkids to a couple of parks. We used my grandson's metal detector and he actually found 11 cents! Click here to see photos of the metal detecting in action. You'll need to cruise to the bottom  right of the page then click page 2 of the photo section.

Have you found any money lately?

Found a Penny at the Grocery Store

Yesterday at the grocery store, I found a penny on the floor when I was checking out. Nothing gang busters but earlier in the day, I was riding my bike and saw a neon green thing lying on the sidewalk. I thought at first it was one of those squishy coin purses that you squeeze to open. I rode past it then turned around to see if there was some FOUND MONEY in it. No money but an iPhone! It was ringing so I pushed the button, slid it to unlock and said I found this phone. The guy was riding a bike looking for it. So, within minutes of finding it, I had to give it up. Not even enough time to see if they had Angry Birds. Dang it.

Found a penny, then had to hunt it down again

Today I was riding my bike (yes, it warmed up nicely here in Phoenix, warm enough to ride) home from Big Lots! I was almost out of laundry detergent so was balancing the bag in one hand while I felt lopsided.

As I was almost home, saw a penny on the road. I road past it, turned around, then I couldn't find it. So, I did what I often do on any normal day, went round and round in circles. I finally widened my circle and found the penny.
