It's Wednesday So It's Find-Another-Penny Day

As usual, I volunteered today at Learning Ally (formerly known as Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic). Since I have found quite a few pennies in the parking lot, I looked on my way in. Nothing. I recorded two files and left. Walking to my car, I found this penny! It is beat to heck but good enough for my found money jar!

Here are the Facebook comments from my last found money entry:

-  Doris said:  Clint found a dime and a penny along the riverbank yesterday!

-  Shirley said:  My daughter's friend found a hundred dollar bill on the floor at work. Kept it in the safe all day in case someone claimed it. They didn't so he got it. Me? I found a dime. :-)

Good luck to everyone and their found money endeavors.
Have you found any money lately?

Found Another Penny at Fresh and Easy Again

I braved the heat this morning and ran a few errands. I plan to stay in all day tomorrow. I went to Big Lots first for some laundry detergent and tp and ended up spending $20. Easy enough to do. Then I went to Fresh and Easy. When I was checking out, I spotted this penny on the floor. Ta da!

I've been writing some articles at Squidoo on coloring pages. I printed this mandala design coloring page and colored it with colored pencils. The penny makes a nice centerpiece, I think!

Found a Penny at the Library

I was walking into the Scottsdale library this afternoon and found a penny on the pavement. Nothing too exciting but it made up for the 100+ degree F heat that I was scooting through. Ugh.

Three Hot Cents Plus One

Well, it's been quite a dry spell as far as found money goes in these parts. Granted, I haven't been going out as much since every day lately has been 100+. But I thought I'd find some money. Today I broke the streak!

I went to volunteer and on the way in, in the usual spot where I've found quite a few stray pennies, I found a penny. I looked around but didn't see any more so went on in. I read a book for teachers on how to teach reading. It was a snoozer. I did my time, and while I was walking back to my car, I found two more pennies. The three dirty ones in the pictures are the three I found. The tar on the parking lots gets really melty in this heat, kind of like the inside of a marshmallow on a S'mores, and the black penny was sort of stuck but I pried it up with just my fingers. Another day and these bad boys would have been imbedded.

I then drove over to Michael's and to Trader Joe's. Nothing at Michael's but at Trader Joe's I found the shiny penny as I was walking out of the store. Hot dog!

Found 11 Cents!

Today I ran out to the library (had to get the DVD "I Stink" since my 3-year-old grandson is coming and he loves I Stink!) and on the way out, I found a penny! Then I hit Fry's for some fruit, veggies, buns, a roast to cook, etc., and while checking out in the self-serve line, I found a dime in the change tray. Losers weepers, loser who left it.

When I got home, I threw the mail on the floor next to some file folders I need to put away. So, of course that's where Scarlett likes to lay. So I set the found money on the new Penzey's Spices catalog (the money's there, it's just hard to see) and Scarlett posed with the found money. She's such a good girl. In case you want to learn more about Miss Scarlett O'Hairy, check her out here.

Edited to correct my typo of "dime" when I meant "penny" outside the library. Oh boy.

Found a Dime and This Earring

I took the trash out on my way to run a few errands (the bank and the post office) this morning. I found this "lovely" earring by the dumpster so I picked it up. It's so ugly (to me) but quite the eye-catching piece of bling, don't you think? I mean it has DIAMONDS all around the edge. I'm sure they're real, too (rolling my eyes).

I didn't find a cent at the bank or the PO. Dang. I did trade a dollar bill for two rolls of pennies at the bank though. I want to see if I can find some wheat pennies or anything else interesting. Not sure what else interesting might be hiding in a roll of pennies, but I'm about to crack them open so will let you know. And I asked for old ones, not rolls of new shiny pennies.

So, I thought my luck was bad today, but as I was walking to my place from the car, there was this dime on the pavement! Yay!

Footnote:  Okay, I just added this picture of three pennies from the two rolls of pennies. Look at the top penny:  it looks like someone took a bite from it!  And I just like the Abe Lincoln penny and the shield. No wheat pennies this batch though. Have you found any interesting coinage lately (even in your change or in a roll)?

Found a Penny at Goodwill

Today was half off day at Goodwill and I swore I wasn't going to go. So, I waited till 12:30 and went then. At least I made it through the morning. I was looking at some tables (I am looking for a coffee table) and saw this penny on the floor.

This particular Goodwill is kind of grungy (check out the floor!) but they have good stuff so I just keep going back. Today I found a wooden cowboy picture, three old glass jars that I think I'll use to store ribbon, two blouses, and some other stuff.

Denomination:  1 penny
Year:  2003
U.S. Mint:  D
Condition:  just fine, cleaner than the Goodwill floor
How much found money to date:  $1.52 in 2011
