True Found Money in the Street

Today I rode my bike since the TV news said the temperature was 74. That's cool for this place. It was windy and pleasant enough but boy is it hot now. I will turn on the air conditioner in an hour or so till about 7 p.m. Ugh. A sign of what's to come.

First on my bike ride,  I found this half an egg in the road. The color is not so hot here, but in person, it was a lovely blue. So, I guess it might be a robin's egg.

Then, a few blocks later, I found this penny, literally (as Rob Lowe says on Parks and Recreation, pronouncing it "litrally") in the street. It must have been there for awhile because it's one beat up coin, but that's okay. Every penny adds up. I'm at 84 cents so far this year and it's almost the end of April. This time last year, I had found just 41 cents. Yes, the economy is improving!
Have you found any money lately?

Found a Penny at the 99 Cent Store

Only 98 more of these and I could have bought something for free! I set the penny on a box of tissues I bought there to take this photo. I love the design! The color is a much prettier blue/gray color in person with chocolate brown swirls. Love that brown/blue combination. I think this tissue box will get it's top cut off and I'll use if for storage. Am I the only dork who does that?

Have you found any money lately? I posted a recent found money blog entry on Facebook and look who commented that they had recently found money:

  • Kathryn found a $5 bill on the ground when she got out of her car at the grocery store! Way to go!
  • George "saw a five dollar bill on a table at 5 Guys Burgers- someone grabbed it before I had a chance!" Better luck next time, George.
  • Joyce said, " Last week I found a $1 bill outside my local Subway (the food place, not the London Underground LOL)." I'd take it!
I have yet to find any bills since I started my found money blog. How about you? Have you found any money of any kind?

Found a Penny with Some Help

Today my grandson and I took the garbage and recycling out to the dumpsters. This is quite the fun job for him. He is 3, going on 30, and always wants me to read the labels on the dumpsters warning about not climbing in, on, or around the dumpster or filling them unevenly and what can and can't be put in the dumpsters (can't = no tires, no liquids or chemicals, no biohazardous waste to name just a few). Fascinating stuff!

When we were done, we were walking back home and found this penny on the ground!

We went to the library Saturday and found one of his favorite movie, I Stink! If you haven't had the pleasure of  watching this one, I highly recommend it. It is a Storybook Treasures DVD with six fun, short stories. "I Stink" is one of the stories; it's the tale of a garbage truck! The other stories on "I Stink" are "Trashy Town," "Arnie the Doughnut," "Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel," "The Remarkable Riderless Runaway Tricycle," and "The Beast of Monsieur Racine." Good times, let me tell ya!

Found a Penny at the PO but Was It Mine to Begin With?

Today I rode my bike to the post office to mail a few things. I sold this adorable little Scotty dog and cat vintage linen on Etsy and had to ship it off.

While I was standing in line, and there was a line since only one clerk was working, the guy in line behind me bemoaned the fact that "it is the busiest time of day, lunchtime, and they should have more people out here." Of course being the wisecracker I am, I said, "But it's lunchtime. They have to eat." I rolled my eyes but he might not have caught that. Then he declared his solution to balancing the budget:  Get rid of 90% of government workers. Okay. That's probably a good start.

I then noticed that he was holding one flimsy little envelope. I asked him if he just needed one stamp. He did. So, I told him I could sell him one and proceeded to dig out my little book of Liberty Bell Forever stamps. He gave me 45 cents, he took the stamp, and I gave him his change:  1 penny. He said he didn't need it but took it and turned around and left. I noticed after he left that there was a penny on the counter provided to address letters and packages. He had walked right by there. Had he tossed the penny there? Was it there when I came in and I missed it?

Who knows? It's mine now!

Library Found Money

I went to the library this morning to return some DVDs and to check out some more. I love not having to rent movies at a store, through NetFlix, or the cable company. They always have plenty of new releases and older movies that I haven't seen. And since I'm addicted to being entertained, it's great! And free.

I watched "The Social Network" over the weekend and returned the movie today. Have you seen it? I thought it was a pretty fascinating story, which evidently is how the little nerd actually came up with Facebook.

I also watched some of the extras on the DVD about how they made the movie and really enjoyed seeing how the two Winklevoss twins were shot using Armie Hammer as Cameron and another actor, Josh Pence, as the other twin, Tyler Winklevoss. All that was left in the movie of Josh as Tyler was Josh's body because they superimposed (if that's what it's called) Armie's face on Josh's head because the "Winklevi," as Zuckerberg calls them in one scene, are identical twins. So cool.

Anyway, I spotted this penny on the floor (nice carpet, huh? ha ha!) so took a picture and went on my merry way.

Happy New Year, 2024 and So Long, 2023

Well, here we are. The end of another year. I think this will be the end of my found money blog. I think it's run its course, but I'...
