Braved the Heat, Found a Nickel

Today the high here in Phoenix is supposed to reach 118. Yuck. I went out this morning to one Goodwill since it's half off day. I'm glad I did because I found some almost new double sheets and pillow case for $5.75 total. Then of course I found a few other things, but I really needed those new sheets for my pull out sofa bed. I only use the bed when I have company but the wire mechanisms on the bed frame seem to chew up sheets!

Then I headed over to Fresh and Easy because they sent out coupons for $5 off $20 (8 of the coupons for the next several weeks). I knew I could knock out $20 easily. As a bonus when I was checking out, I spotted this nickel on the floor under a check-out register! 

Then I came home. Just walking from my car to the stores and back to my car and from the car to my house gave me a headache. I'm okay now, but I'm staying in on these horrible days.

Later today I might have to start watching another season of Top Shot! I finished watching season four yesterday. Love that show! Have you seen it?

Volunteered, Got a Haircut, Went to the Store, Found a Dime, Got Gas, Found Two Pennies

Yes, I did a bunch of stuff and I found a little money. Yay! I read the Christian Science Monitor newspaper today (it airs late tonight so don't anticipate a large audience, and if there is one, they call all laugh at me trying to pronounce the proper nouns) and that went okay. It still took me almost two hours to record a 56-minute program. Oh well.

Then I went to get a haircut at Great Clips. I got Sarah, who did a decent job and didn't talk my ear off. Then I walked over to Fry's for a few things and spotted this dime on the floor!

Next I got gas and sitting right there on the aisle was the shiny penny. And in the next bay over I found the other penny! I paid $3.58 a gallon (I think) for gas. I've seen it cheaper ($3.32), but that price is for cash or debit cards. How much is it in your area?

As you can see I'm still sewing. No sense putting the stuff away till I have to, I always say.

Found Two Pennies in a Dumpster

Yes, you read that right. I found these two pennies today in a dumpster! That's a first! 

I went out to get my mail, took my trash out, and went on my way. I decided to walk around the parking lot to see if I spotted any money. Nope, but I did find some trash. So, I picked up a few things and took it to another dumpster to throw away. Inside the dumpster, right on top of what looked like a child's pull up (I know, a pull up!) were these two pennies! The pull up was folded so that nothing, er, unsightly was showing. Except these two pennies!

So, I reached in and couldn't reach. My armpit sort of hung up on the edge of the dumpster. Ugh. I went over to a pile of rocks, got one and set it in front of the dumpster. That did the trick! It raised me up enough to reach these bad boys!

I brought them home and gave them (and my hands) a bath. Isn't that weird that they were just sitting there? I wonder if someone threw them in with other trash or set them on top of the diaper (it could have been a diaper) or pull up (not sure??) to see if someone would find it. Nah, I doubt it. 

I set the pennies on my messy coffee table. I've been sewing stuff, in case you couldn't tell. I made this mug rug (coaster) for my sister last week. I'm still in the sewing mood so all my sewing junk is still out, everywhere.

Took a Walk, Had a Sauna, Found a Penny

It's hot again today (I know, shocking news), but I just went for a tiny walk (maybe 10 minutes). I walked across the street to the office building parking lot and found a penny! It had been a while, but I finally found another coin there!

Oh, I just watched a really good documentary today on Netflix. I wrote a short post about it:  Hitler's Children.

Found Three Coins Today

Today I went to see two of my cute grandkids and while there, we went to Hobby Lobby to get some fabric. I'm going to make my grandson a book bag. On the way in, my granddaughter found a penny!

On my way home, I stopped at the grocery store where I found a penny by the coin machine (I cannot believe people don't look around when they're done to see if they dropped any coins), a dime on the floor in front of the pharmacy counter, and a dime in the change tray! Ka ching!

Today I took some advice from an online friend and checked out a drive-through lane at a Little Caesers pizza place. I found this penny!

Found 13 Cents Today!

Today I went to the post office but parked across the street and walked over. When I came out of the post office, I walked through the parking lot and saw these Dots lying there. I thought there were so pretty and colorful against the ugly pavement. (I added a link to these yummy goodies if you have a hankering for some Dots!)

And as I was digging my camera out of my purse, I spotted two pennies! Yay! So, I picked them up and walked across the street back to my car and to hit the Dollar Tree. On the way, I saw two more pennies in the street, but they were imbedded in the tar. I couldn't dig them out so I snapped a couple of photos. 

So, I trotted over to Dollar Tree and on the way I saw another penny! At Dollar Tree, guess what happened? I saw a dime under a shelf ledge. Yippee! I also found this tiny little spool of copper wire. Isn't it cute?
