Found Two Cents Today

I am a cheapskate (one reason for tracking my found money) and love to get a deal. Kohler Academy is a "beauty school" for lack of a better term in Snotsdale, and they run specials each month. One of July's deals is the cheap-o 8 dollar haircut! This is cheap no matter where you go but their regular prices are $15 or $20 depending on the level of the student. Score! I made an appointment and braved the 100 degree heat to get a haircut.

I was lucky; the girl (they are all girls, young women really but girls) who I got was graduating soon. In fact her last day is tomorrow. So of course since I can't ask for her next time, she gave me the best haircut I've had in years. I really like it. She did what I wanted and it looks good.

As I was leaving, I spotted a penny in the parking lot. Yay!

Then I stopped by Fresh and Easy on the way home. Have to stock up for our "winter" (too hot to get out). I found another penny on the floor inside. Yay again!

  1. Hi, I've been looking for statistics on 'found money' like you write about here, just walking along and boom, money! Do you know of any websites with guestimates on how much cash may be floating around out there? I have a friend who found a $100 bill one day and I've had it on my mind lately, I wonder how much could be out there LOL I'm enjoying your blog, do you have a tally of how much you've possibly found so far, since starting your blog?

  2. BeccA, I really appreciate your comments! My tally at the right side of this blog shows the totals from this year and 2010. To date, I have found $12.50 in basically 1-1/2 years. That would be fascinating to know how much money is "out there." I'm sure it's TONS. I'm just trying to find my little share of it!

  4. I wait until I get a coupon for my haircuts. I found one for $7.99 so I'm going to be braving the heat to get a haircut myself. I'm actually using a bunch of change I have to help pay for the haircut so I'm sure the person is going to love it when I whip out all my change. Luckily there are mostly quarters so it shouldn't be too bad.

  5. barbara b, thanks so much for the comments! Barbara, I think that's great how you're going about getting your frugal hair cut. Why not!? And maybe you'll find some money while you're out.
