Found 30 Cents Today on a Walk and at Fresh and Easy

Today I took my magnet (like this one shown here) for a walk down an alley. I didn't get very far when I spotted a guy out spraying for weeds, I guess. Since I don't like an audience nor wanted to breathe that crap, I left and went to the next alley over.

I found a penny near a bunch of junk that people had dumped. Then pretty soon I spotted another one. I walked on and saw a quarter sort of buried in the dirt. I'm surprised I saw it. It is a mess. Then I found one more penny!

I was thrilled! I left and went to the library and picked up some DVDs and books. Then I went to Fresh and Easy. On the way in, I saw a penny in a change tray, so I snagged it. At the markdown section, they had $4.99 containers of grapes on sale for $1.57, so I got two! Then as I was walking to my car I saw another penny beside a car. Yay!

Took a Walk and Found Two Pennies

Today I walked down a couple of alleys with my magnet to find more junk. I've been dyeing fabric with rusty objects, as shown in the photo. I love this look! I'm planning to use the fabric for some small quilted wall hangings.

So, today I found plenty of rusty junk plus two pennies! The pennies were sort of embedded in the mud from the rains we had Friday and Saturday so are a mess.

Took My Magnet for a Walk and Found 9 Cents

Today I had to go to the post office to mail a package. No money, except what I spent.

Then I went to two Goodwill stores because it's half off day and it's a free country. Why not? No money, except again what I spent.

Then I missed a turn so decided to park and walk down an alley with my magnet.  The weather is marvelous. Mid-60s so very nice out with the sun shining and a slight breeze. Right away I found three pennies in the middle of the alley!

Here's a magnet that's just like mine except the magnet part on mine is square. You can get yourself one and take it for a walk on nice days, too!

Then I walked to the end and on the way found another penny. As I was heading back to my car, I saw something round that my magnet didn't pick up. It was sort of embedded in the mud. It's been raining here lately so the ground was squishy in places. It was a nickel!

Have you found any money? Any at all? Let us know!

Found 14 Pennies on a Walk

Today was another lovely day out, so I took a walk with my magnet. I headed to the library but on the way stopped and walked down an alley. Right away next to a garbage can, I found 2 pennies. I kept going and eventually found 14 pennies in all!

Some of them are kind of old and I wouldn't doubt if they've been there the whole time. One is bent and 4 are such a mess, I can't read the dates. As you can see in the photo they were all filthy dirty. I had to rinse them off to try to read the dates at all.

Found Four Cents Today!

Today I volunteered (it's Wednesday, don't ya know?) and then hit the library. No coins.

Then I got a wild hair to take the magnet for a walk. I know, I'm crazy. It was probably 100 degrees. Hot. But I only walked down one alley about a block's worth and back. Right away I spotted a bunch of small junk on the ground beside a garbage can. In the pile were these four pennies!

I didn't find too much good stuff with my magnet today, but that's okay. The money was enough.

Found a Canadian Penny

Today after volunteering at Learning Ally, I took a walk in the alley behind the office complex with my magnet. It was such a beautiful day and I wanted to enjoy it a little. In front of a garbage can, I spotted this Canadian penny, maple leaf side up.

I think it's so pretty! And I just noticed that it's not perfectly round. Little straight edges make up the sides. So nice!

Have you found any money of any kind lately? Please let us know!

Been Sick But Well Enough Today to Take a Walk

And I found three pennies! I have had a cold for about a week that knocked me on my butt. Yuck. I so rarely get sick and I really hate it. But today I woke up after sleeping 9+ hours and felt a lot better. I decided to get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

On my walk, with my trusty long-handed magnet, I found three pennies! I also found a bunch of nails and bottle caps and other junk. The other two items in the photo are part of a saw blade and maybe part of an outlet component. Not sure what it is but I think I'll use it to make a person. Doesn't it look like a dress? Well, sort of?

Found a Penny but Grandkids Found More!

Today I met my son and his family at a park. He runs a great Web site called ParkGrades. You can find a park, review parks, and see lots of other info that's park related. So, we go to as many parks as we can! Anyway, while there, I got my magnet out of the trunk and my two grandkids had fun picking up junk with it. We walked in an alley next to the park. We found tons of nails, screws, rusty bottle caps, wire, and more.

While scouring the ground, my granddaughter found a penny, then my grandson found two pennies, then I found a penny, then she found two more pennies! Jackpot!

Six in all! But I'm only counting the one penny I found for this found money blog entry. See the magnet full of stuff? Good times!

Here's hoping 2012 brings lots of pennies (and dollars) our way! And be sure to share your found money with us!

Found 77 Cents!

Today I went to Ace Hardware to get a spare key made. When I was done, I decided to take my trusty magnet on a stick out of the trunk and walk around the large parking lot and behind the buildings (there's also a Food City, an auto parts store, and a bowling alley in the complex) to see what I could find.

Well, what I found was a bunch of metal junk and 77 cents! I was shocked and amazed! There is an empty building in one corner of the parking lot and in the dirt next to building I found the majority of this money. I found one quarter in the parking lot, a nickel in the street when I glanced over while walking on the sidewalk. Ta da! Jackpot!!

Have you found any money these days? This has convinced me I need to hit more parking lots! Why not?

Found a Penny in the Dirt

Today I had to ship some Etsy items I sold so went to the post office. Score. No lines! Then I ran to the bank. On the way home, I parked in a church parking lot and got the trusty magnet and my junk bag from the trunk. I walked around and well, didn't find a whole lot.

The church bordered a tree farm/nursery so I walked the little alley between the two, and I mostly just enjoyed the peace and quiet. You'd never think you were in the middle of a big city like Phoenix. I wish I lived there! Anyway, I did find a penny in the dirt. No picture. It's not terribly remarkable looking. It looks like a penny.

Found Two Cents in an Alley

I have become a vagrant. Well, not really, but I took my magnet on  a stick down an alley again today. This time I went across from the library behind some stores. I found these two pennies (plus a whole lot of junk like bits of tin, rusty nails, etc.). Fun! One of the dumpsters had a treasure trove of junk in front of it. I'm thinking when the garbage truck picks up those dumpsters, quite a bit of little stuff falls out onto the ground.

While I was searching, I spotted these two pennies! One of the pennies is such a mess that the front of it is so worn away that I can't see anything on it.

Magnet Walk Nets Phoenix Woman a Penny and a Dime

Today I decided to get out and enjoy this cool weather. I grabbed my industrial strength magnet (that's it in the photo... it's a strong magnet on a stick. I love it!) and took off. I went down an alley figuring I'd get fewer stares. Well, turns out I also found tons of junk that way! I found tons of rusty nails and what not.

It's such a satisfying sound when a piece of metal clinks and attaches to the magnet. I found this penny next to a garbage can.

I kept going and kept finding stuff:  bottle caps, pieces of wire, part of a tiny saw blade, even a railroad tie and yes, the magnet picked it up! Then I found a dime next to another garbage can.

Note to self:  Check the ground around garbage cans for coins.

Any luck finding money for you?
