Found Money: Found More Than a Dollar Today

This afternoon I drove to a bookstore to buy a book they were holding for me. On the way I was stopped at a red light and noticed something shiny on the ground outside my window. Two quarters! I put my car in Park and hopped out to get them. Then later I found three pennies in a parking lot. 53 cents. I was thrilled!

Then I decided to go to the main Scottsdale library. I hadn't been there in a long time, probably close to a year and I almost didn't pull into the parking garage because some sort of big sports whoop-dee do was going on and they had signs out that read "parking lot full," but I did pull in to the underground garage and found a spot immediately!

Inside the library I spotted two more quarters on the floor next to some vending machines! I found four quarters today. Yay! $1.03!

Found 12 Cents at the Library

Today I went to volunteer. For the last time. Learning Ally (formerly known as Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic) is closing the Phoenix studio this Friday. Sad day. So, I did a little work, but the other volunteers and I sat around and talked and reminisced about the place, about how sad it is that we won't be able to go there any more, and talked about what other volunteering opportunities there are. We'll see.

Then I ran a bunch of errands. At the Scottsdale library, I spotted these two pennies under one of the self-checkout stations. Then I went to the customer service desk to have my movies opened (they put newer movies in a hard plastic case that they have to unlock). Under the counter there, I found this dime!

Found a Penny at the Library

Today I went to the Scottsdale library to return some books and DVDs and stock up on some more. When I walked up to the self-checkout counters, the one I choose happened to have a penny sitting on it. Now it's mine!

Then I went to Eldorado Park and walked around a little while. It has finally cooled down here (a high of 81, which is marvelous!). I took this photo of a dragonfly. It was really pretty in person, but like most of my photos, this one doesn't really show it off well.

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Found a Dime at Scottsdale Library

Today I woke up early. It was weird. I never wake up early. But it was 6:30 and I was wide awake, ready to go. So I got up and showered and fiddled around on the computer, ate breakfast while watching the first episode of Masterpiece Classic Collision. It was good! More later!

By then it was 9 a.m. I am usually still waking up about then. But today I felt sort of antsy since it was only 79 out and that felt so cool! I headed out to the Scottsdale library to return some DVDs and books and to pick up a DVD on reserve. While there I got a culture pass for the botanical garden and spotted a dime on the counter. Yay!

Here's a photo of the dime with a vintage pattern I'll be adding to my Etsy shop.

Then I went to the 99 Cent store and Fresh and Easy but didn't find any more money. Have you found any money lately?

Found Money! 21 Cents!

Today I got an email saying a DVD I had reserved was in at the Scottsdale library. I didn't want to get out in the heat but wanted the DVD (Foyle's War, Season 4). So, I drove over there and went to a thrift store first. I found one of these dimes there.

Then I went to the library, and the DVD wasn't on the hold shelf. After talking to two librarians I found out that the DVD case was available but no DVD was inside. Crap! So, they reordered it for me. Oh well.

Then I stopped at Fry's for a few groceries. While walking around the store, I spotted the grungy looking dime first then the penny! So, I'm happy that I ventured out. Twenty-one cents. Wee ha!

Banner Day! I Found 9 Pennies!

Most Thursdays, I watch two of my grandkids in the evening. On the drive there, I go to the Scottsdale library, which is on the way. I've never found much money there (a penny, once, I think), but today while walking from the parking lot in to the library, I spotted four pennies on the sidewalk! I scooped them up, went inside to return a DVD and pick up a few more. Then on my way out, I saw another penny near where I'd found the others. I must have missed it, so that made five pennies! I was thrilled!

Then I went to Hobby Lobby, which is also on the way, and while walking to the store, I spotted four pennies in the parking lot! Woo hoo! I was pretty much shocked! It's rare for me to find more than one coin at a time and to find these two sets of four pennies was something!

I'm reading Believing the Lie by Elizabeth George and am 100 pages away from finding out whodunit. I love her Inspector Lynley books, but they are long! I'll finish this tonight (if I can stay awake) or tomorrow.

Found a Penny in Scottsdale

Today I volunteered then went to both the Phoenix library and the Scottsdale library. On the way home, I parked the car and took a little walk in Scottsdale. I found a penny by the side of the road!

I wonder how many coins we all pass by each day. Hmmm. Any guesses? Have you found any coins lately?

I was walking into the Scottsdale library this afternoon and found a penny on the pavement. Nothing too exciting but it made up for the 100+ degree F heat that I was scooting through. Ugh.

A Shiny Dime in the Green Grass

Today I ran out to pick up the last two seasons of Nip/Tuck at the Scottsdale Library. I thought the show sounded so stupid (plastic surgery--yuck!) but I picked up season one a few weeks back and was instantly hooked! If you haven't seen it, check it out. My my. I even wrote an article about the top five quotes from Nip/Tuck.

So, I was all done, had driven home, and was walking to my condo. What did I see but this shiny dime in the grass. Woo hoo!

Library Money

I went to volunteer at Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic today then to the Scottsdale Civic Center Library. They had a couple of movies on hold for me (the first season of The United States of Tara, for one! I can't wait to watch it since I don't have Showtime!). And what did I find? You guessed it. A penny!

This photo is a reenactment. I didn't have my camera handy, so I took this photo when I got home. The penny was tucked almost under a bookcase, tails up). So even though this isn't a "live" shot, it is THE penny.
