Year End Found Money... a good chunk to finish the year

Earlier I braved the wind and cold (if you can call 52 cold) and walked around a shopping center parking lot looking for money. I found a dime in a parking space and 2 dimes in a fast food drive through lane and then four pennies in a store so it was worth it!

With this money (34 cents) added to what else I found since I last posted, I have $6.07 to add to my year's total. So...

Drum roll please!

For all of 2018, I found $68.05.

This is my second best year for finding money but no where close to the $100+ I found in 2015.

Do you have resolutions for 2019? Wow, it feels weird typing that.

What about you? Found any money lately? About how much do think found this year? Please share and let us know!

Finally Posting After Months Away... So Much Found Money!

I have had trouble (still) logging in to update this blog but here I am finally.

After several months away, here's the breakdown of what I've found:

229 pennies ($2.29)
17 nickels ($.85)
45 dimes ($4.50)
21 quarters ($7.25)

for a total of $14.89!

I also found 11 foreign coins:  a tiny 1 cent Euro (so cute!), two 10 cent Mexican coins (also little but not quite as cute), some sort of Asian coin (can't read the symbols but there is a man's face that I don't recognize on the front), a 10 cent Canadian coin, a 1 cent Canadian coin, a 5 cent Canadian coin, two $1 Mexican coins, 1 British penny, and a 50 cent Mexican coin.

Those are always so fun to find!

I also found a couple of tokens (a car wash token and a Peter Piper Pizza token) as well as a copper tree of life pendant.

Have you thought about giving some rare coins to someone as a gift this Christmas? It might be a fun and unique hobby for a child or for someone who has everything.

Finding money most every day

I'm not sure what happened but I've had some trouble with my blog. I thought it was hacked and I wasn't able to post here but after doing a little research tonight, I am in!

Since I last posted (nearly a month ago!) I've found me some coin! $4.85 to be exact! And in all of those coins I found two wheat pennies. One is a 1929 coin and the other a 1950. I love finding the old ones!

I wanted to tell you about this fun item I recently picked up. This solar light takes no batteries (nor prisoners!) and lasts up to 12 hours all on a solar battery. So fun! I think this is great for when the power goes out (provided you have sun to charge it, of course) or any time you want light without using electricity.

Found the Motherlode at a Coin Machine Today

This afternoon I stopped at Walmart for a few things and decided to check out the parking lot first for money before heading inside. It's been so hot (surprise surprise) but a storm was coming in, which cooled things down. It was actually fairly pleasant outside about 5:00 pm. I found 31 cents. Score!

Then I went inside and checked out the coin machine. I spotted a penny on the floor in front of the machine then found a pile of coins in the tray! 65 cents plus 3 foreign coins and a button, to be exact! Okay so many not the motherlode but score!

And before today I had found $2.70 since my last post. Score!

That's $3.66 plus the British penny, the Mexican 10 cent coin, and the Mexican $1 coin. Yay!

The money on the left is the money I found before today. The money front and center is what I found in the Walmart parking lot today, and on the right is the motherlode from inside the store in and around the coin machine.

A First for Me! Guess What I Found?

Okay, I won't keep you in suspense.

Last week I reached into a change tray of a coin machine at the grocery store and found a dime and a penny.

Big deal, right? Yep, it was a big deal. At least to me because I found my first 1943 steel penny! I'd seen one before but this is the first one I've found.

This photo shows the steel zinc penny sitting on a magnet. During World War II, the United States needed copper for ammunition so they made pennies with steel and zinc.

Here's a better explanation from Wikipedia:

1943 steel cents are U.S. one-cent coins that were struck in steel due to wartime shortages of copper. The PhiladelphiaDenver, and San Francisco mintseach produced these 1943 Lincoln cents

The unique composition of the coin (low-grade steel coated with zinc, instead of the previously 95%-copper-based bronze composition) has led to various nicknames, such as wartime centsteel war penny, and steelie. The 1943 steel cent features the same Victor David Brenner design for the Lincoln cent which had been in use since 1909.

So, I was thrilled to find one of these somewhat rare coins. They are probably not worth a lot, but I will keep this bad boy. I'm thrilled to have found it!

Have you ever seen or found a 1943 steel war penny?

I also found quite a few more coins (shown in the photo) since I last posted here. In total, I found $3.86! One of those coins was a 1946 nickel!

In case you want to start your own steel penny collection, check them out for yourself.

Finding Coins Around Town

Well, it's that time again. It's been a few weeks since I posted and have found $2.15 in coins.

Not sure why this photo is displayed sideways but you get the picture.

Just yesterday I found 2 quarters (50 cents!) in a newspaper vending machine change tray. It's so random where the money just waiting to be found hangs out.

Where have you found money lately? Do you roll your change in those coin roll wrappers? I think I might need to get some since my found money jar is too heavy to carry to a change machine!

Found Money Alert! $2.56 Plus a Canadian Penny and a Car Wash Token

So, I have several stacks of coins on my desk and thought it was time to post about what I've found.

Since I last posted here, I've found a whopping $2.56 plus a Canadian penny and a car wash token. Yay! Isn't that a fancy car wash token with the brass center and silver outside? It's probably not brass and it's certainly not silver but it's pretty!

I found the car wash token in a coin machine change tray (where all the rejects go to live). It was there all by itself so I brought it home with me. What I can never understand is why people leave change (actual coins!) in those change trays but some of this money came from such places. Hmmm.

I found a 1941 nickel. I just checked Amazon and woo hoo. Check out how much they're selling one for.

I just love finding the older coins. I need to sort through my stash and separate out the older ones to see if they're worth anything.

I also found money in all the usual places:  parking lots, floors of stores, drive through lanes, newspaper and water vending machines, and on and on.

One day I was walking along in a parking lot and I kicked something. I heard it make a tinkling sound. I looked down and it was a penny! I can't believe I missed it but then found it because I kicked it. Go figure!

Have you found any money lately? If so, where did you find it? Anywhere fun or interesting or unusual? Do tell!

Lots and Lots of Coins Found - Where Do You Find Money?

Since I last posted a little over 2 weeks ago, I've been finding money right and left. And I love it!

In total I've found $5.29 the past 2 weeks! Just today for example I found a dime in a parking lot (along with several pennies here and there in other parking lots), 2 quarters in a change tray of a newspaper vending machine, a quarter and a penny in a drive through lane. That was 90 cents today alone!

I also found a Canadian dime. Woo hoo. Love me some foreign coins!

The other day I spotted this dime in a store. It was tucked under the bottom shelf, and I almost missed seeing it. But I saw another coin (a penny) later in the same store in almost the same configuration. I think someone drops the coin and they roll along and land propped up like that against the edge of the wall or shelf.

Where do you find money? Do you ever find money that you almost missed seeing?

Got more money than you can count? Well, here you go!

Found 94 Cents Two Days in a Row (Plus quite a bit more money!)

The past two days I found 94 cents each day. What are the odds? Today I found 2 quarters in a newspaper vending machine coin tray and some more coins in a drive through and on the floor of a store.

I also found quite a bit more money since I last posted. In fact, I found $3.88 total this time. I just love finding money!

I also found a batting token (No Cash Value on the back), but it's cool anyway!

How about you? Have you found any money lately?

Found Money Update: $2.39 plus a 5 cent Euro coin and a Canadian 1 cent coin

It's the last day of the month so it's time for a status of my found money. Since the last time I posted a few weeks ago, I've found $1.90 plus two foreign coins. I found a 5 cent Euro coin and a Canadian penny.

This takes me over the $20 mark for 2018's found money total.

Finding Money... 36 cents just today!

Today I worked a booth at the business expo then I ran some errands. I did look on the ground and floor at the expo but didn't find anything.

But later at the dollar store I found three dimes! Then later I found a nickel in a drive through lane. The penny? Don't remember but I think in the parking lot.

In all since I last posted, I've found $1.54! Yay!

Here's what I found:

24 pennies
3 nickels
9 dimes
1 quarter,
a Peter Piper Pizza token
a 2012 1 piso coin from Republika ng Philipinas

I looked up the foreign coin and it's worth $0.019 (less than 2 cents). Here's the info from the Numista website.

But I still like to find foreign money!

Have you found any coins or paper bills lately? I'm itching to find more paper money!

Finding Coins Here, There, and Everywhere!

It's been several weeks since I last posted. I've been finding money, as the title says here, there, and everywhere!

I've found $1.75 since my last post. I also found two Canadian nickels! I thought that was odd, finding two of them and at different times and places.

There isn't much exciting to report about this found money. I found it in the normal places:  on the floor of stores, in parking lots, in drive through lanes, in change trays of vending machines and coin machines, etc.

My kitty turned 2 yesterday! Here he is with his new Kitty Kong. I filled it with treats and then later with catnip. He likes it!

Finding Lots of Money Lately!

Okay, I know it's been a while since I last posted, but I just keep finding money and decided this evening it was time to stop hoarding these coins and post about them already!

Just today I found 62 cents while running errands. I just love finding money!! Do you? Have you found any lately?

I've been trying to eat better and recently got a Vitamix blender. Oh man, oh man, oh man. It is wonderful. Powerful and chops up stuff like nobody's business!! I haven't used it yet for soup, but you can make soup in this bad boy in something like 6 minutes! In the blender. Hot soup!

Do you have a Vitamix blender? Do you love it? What's your favorite thing to make with it? So far I've just made smoothies. Very smooth smoothies, I must say!

Back to my money... here is the pile of money I found since I last posted. $3.46! Yay!
