Found a Penny on the Sidewalk

It's chilly here today (high of 57, so not as chilly as many other places), but I decided to take a little walk. As I was walking along the sidewalk, not even 5 minutes into my walk, I spotted a penny on the sidewalk! It was over by the grass and am surprised I saw it.

Then I found two aluminum cans. I've been carrying a tote bag with a plastic bag inside and picking up cans when I see them. My trunk is full of bags of cans, so it's time to head to the recycling center soon.

Found 26 Cents at the Grocery Store

Today I ran a few errands. First I went to the post office which had just a tiny little line. Ah, the difference a few days and one major holiday make. 

Then I drove over to the library but parked in the parking lot of Fry's, just a block away and walked to the library. I forgot the DVDs on the living room floor. They weren't quite close enough to the door when I left the house. Oh well. I'll return them next time I head out, but I know people are in line for Season 1 of Boardwalk Empire (it's very good!).

After picking up a book and movie at the library, I walked back to the grocery store. I just needed a few things but kept my eyes out for money on the floor because it seems like a prime spot to find money. I had to hit the produce section then cross to the other end of the store to get cat litter and when I went to check out, I saw a penny in one checkout lane then in the next lane, I saw the quarter! Both lanes were closed so I just scooted under the little gate thingie and picked up the coins. 

Keep your eyes out. Lots of shoppers out and about reaching into pockets for keys or whatever spilling money for you to find. Oh, and isn't the cat hanger adorable! This was a present from my sister. Thanks, MarySue!

Found a Penny on the Sidewalk

Today I had the last recheck of my drug study. Yay! I can now drink caffeinated coffee, eat chocolate, drink alcohol, and take my vitamins and a Tylenol PM any time I want! Yes! It feels good to be done!
  
So, after they checked our vitals, drew blood, and asked us how we felt one more time, we were all free as little birds.

I went to Barnes and Noble and Target for a couple gifts. Now I'm done. Then I went to a different Fresh and Easy than I usual shop at. They had tons of great markdowns. When I was leaving, I spotted a penny on the sidewalk outside. 

I don't plan on getting back out much so Merry Christmas if I don't find any more money before Christmas. Hope you get everything you want this year.

Found Two Pennies at McDonald's and a Thrift Store

Today I had another recheck at the drug study (a few more to go. Ugh.). Afterwards, I was starving since we can't eat before the blood draws, so I stopped at McDonald's for a sausage biscuit and decaf coffee. I spotted a penny on the floor. 

Then I did some Christmas shopping and then went to a thrift store in Scottsdale where I saw the other penny on the floor by the checkout register.

I brought the coins home and posed them next to the Poppin' Fresh Doughboy towel I dug out with my Christmas stuff yesterday. Yes, it's a late start but better late....

Found a Dime -- 2012 Found Money Total Now at $15.15

I've been a little under the weather this week so haven't been out and about much. But today I'm starting to feel better and walked around the parking lot this morning. The fresh air felt great!

I was just about to head back home when I spotted a dime in a parking space. This brings my 2012 found money total to $15.15. Very fitting since yesterday was 12/12/12. 

I also finally got out a box of Christmas decorations and put out a few things. This snowman is a favorite! He has three lights inside that alternate. The blue one is lit in this photo.

Found Three Cents

Today I was feeling antsy so I took a walk. I needed to mail a bill so I walked to the closest drop box, which is about three or four blocks away, I think. I didn't count. On the way there, I found a penny.

Then I decided to check out Goodwill. I found a few vintage linens as shown in the photo:  an embroidered pillowcase and a 1980 linen calendar. It's faded but lovely! And isn't that sad that something from 1980 is considered vintage?

I didn't find any money at Goodwill but I did donate my 2 cents in change when I paid.

Then I went to Big Lots! which is right next door to Goodwill. I found 2 pennies on the floor there! I also got some delicious Krusteaz cranberry-orange muffin mix, like this one.

Found Five Pennies on the Floor at Fresh and Easy

Today I stopped by Fresh and Easy to see what deals they had on the mark down shelves. All I ended up getting from there was a package of focaccia dough for 75 cents (it's delicious fresh from the oven!) and a bag of white cheddar pirate's treasure (a puffed rice/corn snack) for half off. 

As I was checking out, I spotted four pennies on the floor under the next checkout register. Then I saw another penny under another register.

This puts me over $15 for this year!

Found a Dime at Arby's

Today I stopped at Arby's and went inside to order some buy one, get one free roast beef sandwiches. On the floor I spotted a dime! 

Later, two of my grandkids and I ate the sandwiches then made these fun snowmen ornaments from keys. Cute, easy, and fun.

Found a Dime Saturday and a Penny Today

Saturday I went to the second part of the drug study I'm participating in to "do my time." I had to stay overnight a few nights and while walking in to the place, spotted this dime on the ground in front of my car! 

I wasn't able to post a blog entry then so I'm doing it now. 

And today, I stopped at Fry's and found this penny in the parking lot. Yay!

Found 5 Pennies While Running Errands

Today I had to run some errands. Here's what happened:

~ I parked in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store then crossed the street on foot to the post office. I had to mail some earrings I sold on Etsy. On the way back to the Dollar Tree, I found a penny on the street then another penny in the parking lot in front of the store. 

~ Inside the Dollar Tree, I found 2 pennies on the floor while checking out.

~ Then as I was driving to the library, I spotted a penny on the road while I was stopped at a stop sign so got out of the car and snapped it up!

Happy Thanksgiving! Found a Penny at a Park

Happy Thanksgiving, to you! We had a great day. I had all my favorite people around the table!

After our big feast and (most of) the dishes were washed, we headed to a park. It was a beautiful day in Arizona with a high of 78. It felt good to walk off a little of the food. I'm still stuffed though!

While the kids played, I spotted a penny on the ground! Did you have a good Thanksgiving? I hope so.

Found a Penny in the Parking Lot Next to a Truck

Today I took the trash out then walked around the parking lot. I spotted a penny on the ground next to a truck's passenger side door. 

The coin is very scratched up, making me think it was there a while being driven over, over and over.

I went to get my hair cut yesterday and afterward stopped at a different Fresh and Easy. I found these three pennies in the change tray. I think it's amazing that people leave their pennies, but I love it!

Found a Penny in Change Tray at Fresh and Easy

Today I went to volunteer then to Fresh and Easy. I didn't have my weekly coupon with me but didn't plan to buy a lot, but once I got there, I was sucked in by the free turkeys! If you buy $30 worth of groceries, you get a free turkey! So, I replaced my little green basket I was carrying with a grocery cart and proceeded to shop.

I needed everything I bought and got a $9 turkey for free. I tried to find the smallest one and think I did. It is a 12 pounder, but there were 21-pound turkeys in the freezer so it's really a good deal!

I spotted this penny in a change tray as I was getting my cart. Ta da! It's got a nice green patina going!

Found a Very Scratched Penny

Today I took the trash out to the dumpster and walked around the parking lot. At the end near the other dumpsters, I found this penny. It must have been there awhile because it looks like it's been run over about a million times. It's safe and in my found money far now.

I had this Betty Crocker cook book out to write this article, Easy Sugar Cookies with Jam in the Middle. They are very easy and very delicious.

Found 8 Cents Today at Fresh and Easy

Today I ran to Fresh and Easy to see what deals they had in the markdown area. I got three perfectly ripe pears (usually they have to sit around 3 or more days to ripen and I can't wait and end up eating them before they're ripe enough but I had one for lunch and it was perfect!) and a big beefsteak tomato, and some frozen stuff that wasn't marked down.

As I was checking out, I looked in a couple of the change trays, and look what I found! Eight cents!

Found a Penny at McDonald's

Today I had to return for a recheck for a drug study/clinical trial I'm doing. I wrote an article about it, in case you're interesting in earning some extra money by being a lab rat / guinea pig. Found a Nickel at Wal-Mart

Today I went to Wal-Mart to buy lead for my grandson's mechanical pencil. I couldn't find any but they did have mechanical pencils (with lead in them) so I got him a package of those. If he wants to, he can take the lead out and put it in his!


I was walking around the store because I didn't have a list and in stores like that I'm generally overwhelmed with all the stuff and can't remember if I might need something else till I get home again. Under one of the display shelves, I spotted this nickel!


Then I went over to the food area and picked out a few superfoods (sweet potato, salmon, eggs) and some not so superfoods (mozzarella cheese, bananas, tomato soup, tea). I've been reading the book The Drop 10 Diet which lists the superfoods and all but the sardines sound pretty good to me!

Today I ran a bunch of errands. At the 99 Cent Only Store I was cruising down an aisle when I spotted a penny. A couple of savvy shoppers (like myself, I mean, come on. Everything's 99 cents!) were standing right there beside it, so I waited till they walked away. Then I snagged the coin. Yippie!

Found Eleven Cents

Today the power went off after a loud "BOOM" so I decided to go run a few errands. Of course the gate wouldn't open since the power was off so I was trapped in my complex. But a couple of guys got 'er done. They took the cover off the motor mechanism and turned some little crank to open the gate. Yay!

I went to Fry's and found a penny in an empty checkout lane. Yay! Then I went to Dollar Tree and found a dime on the floor while waiting in line to check out. Yay!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go with a Fairy Princess and Ninja to trick or treating at the library. What fun! I made these costumes for my grandkids. 

I started with a dress pattern for the princess dress. My granddaughter helped design the fairy belt we made from eyelet ribbon with rick rack and ribbon sewn around it. 

Mr. Ninja's outfit started from a pajama pattern. I altered it so the top wrapped around, and I made two "head pieces":  a scarf/hat and a piece to cover his mouth. What fun!

They each picked out the fabric at the fabric store, choose their accessories (belt and ninja gear for him, and wings and wand for her). We had lots of fun making these special costumes!

Found a Penny at the Desert Botanical Garden

Today I went to the Desert Botanical Garden with my daughter-in-law and two grandkids. We rode the hay wagon and the kids got to pick out a pumpkin. There were lots of games and crafts and a petting zoo with a miniature horse, three goats, chickens, and  a pig! Plus we visited the butterfly exhibit. Lots of fun! 

And while we were walking back to the parking lot, I spotted a penny!

Here's a photo of a sculpture on display at the garden. Interesting, huh? I'm not sure what it is. Most of the others were cactus. The sign said it was a sculpture by Carolina Escobar. The name? Untitled. That helps a lot!

Found a Penny at Michael's

Today I ran over to Michael's since yesterday I couldn't find Velcro at Walmart. They probably had it but I couldn't find it. I was checking out and did my usual covert eyeing-the-floor maneuver. Yep, there on the floor between the two checkout lanes was a penny!
This is the exact Velcro I bought and it would have been a lot easier to order it from Amazon, but I wouldn't have found the penny. So, it's okay.

The cashier saw me get it so I just said, "I found a penny!" like that never happens and paid and was on my way.

Today I went to see about being in a research study, went to the annual Learning Ally volunteer luncheon, then I ran a few errands. I finally got back home about 3:30. I was pooped!

Today I volunteered then headed over to my favorite grocery store, Fresh and Easy. I bought a few things then on my way out to my car, I spotted a penny in the parking lot!

Took a Walk and Found 3 Coins

My found money streak continues! This is day five!

I took a walk just now--man, I can't believe it's nearly dark at 6:00! That's what we get for just now cooling down enough to bear being outside. 

Almost as soon as I left my complex, I found this penny on the sidewalk. I almost missed it because it's so dirty, but I didn't miss it. I picked it up. 

Then I walked a few blocks and took a little detour through a church parking lot where I spotted this nickel! Score!! I felt as lucky as a lottery winner. Two coins! 

Then I walked on home. It was almost dark, after all. In my parking lot, I spotted the dime next to a motorcycle! Yay!

Today I went to the Phoenix Children's Museum with my grandkids then to McDonalds. They loved it!

Found a Penny at the Library

Today I went to the Scottsdale library to return some books and DVDs and stock up on some more. When I walked up to the self-checkout counters, the one I choose happened to have a penny sitting on it. Now it's mine!

Then I went to Eldorado Park and walked around a little while. It has finally cooled down here (a high of 81, which is marvelous!). I took this photo of a dragonfly. It was really pretty in person, but like most of my photos, this one doesn't really show it off well.

Found a Dime at an Intersection

Today while I was driving home from the Barry Goldwater Memorial Park, I was stopped at an intersection. I spotted something out the side window. It was sort of round. It looked sort of like a coin. 

And since there were no other cars around, I put my car in park and got out to get whatever it was. It was this dime! It's a mess. But it's a dime! Oh, the little guys posing with the dime are thimble ghosts.

The little park is very small but had a very large statue of Goldwater and other neat features like two of his statements carved in some gorgeous rock on the floor of the walkway and little plaques on the rock walls.

Found a Five Dollar Bill at the Grocery Store

Today I ran to the grocery store for a few things (mainly bacon) because a couple of cute kiddos are coming over to spend the night and if that's not a good excuse to fix bacon for breakfast, I'd like to know what is!

I was strolling down an aisle and spotted this $5 on the floor! It was over to the side, but no one was around so I scooped it up. And I thought finding one dollar bills was exciting! 

Then after I paid for my groceries and was walking out of the store, I spotted these two Peter Piper Pizza tickets on the floor at the entrance. Scarlett likes the tickets.

Then in the parking lot I found a set of keys and this guitar pick. I took the keys inside but kept the guitar pick. What should I do with it?

Found 2 Cents at Fresh and Easy

Today I went to two grocery stores:  Grocery Outlet and Fresh and Easy. I found quite a few good deals at Grocery Outlet but no money. At Fresh and Easy I also found a deal or two and I found two pennies on the floor as I was leaving the store!

Then I headed to a shopping area with Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I parked between the two stores, and went to Hobby Lobby first and checked out the clearance shelves. Then I walked to Michael's to do the same. One way, I spotted a nickel in the parking lot then a penny!

Then I went to my son's house. On the way out to my car, I spotted a penny in the street. Woo hoo! Seven cents!

Found a Dime at Scottsdale Library

Today I woke up early. It was weird. I never wake up early. But it was 6:30 and I was wide awake, ready to go. So I got up and showered and fiddled around on the computer, ate breakfast while watching the first episode of Masterpiece Classic Collision. It was good! More later!

By then it was 9 a.m. I am usually still waking up about then. But today I felt sort of antsy since it was only 79 out and that felt so cool! I headed out to the Scottsdale library to return some DVDs and books and to pick up a DVD on reserve. While there I got a culture pass for the botanical garden and spotted a dime on the counter. Yay!

Then I went to the 99 Cent store and Fresh and Easy but didn't find any more money. Have you found any money lately?

Found 2 Pennies at Peter Piper Pizza

Today I had the good fortune of going to Peter Piper Pizza! I took two of my grandkids and before playing a machine, we checked the little change trays to see if we found any tokens. We actually found several! My grandson also found a nickel, and I found a penny! Then as we were leaving, I found a penny on the floor.

I am exhausted. It's just so exciting! Did you find any money somewhere fun (or boring) today?

Found 2 Cents Outside Fresh and Easy

Today I volunteered then drove to the post office. I bought these stamps. Aren't they pretty? Then I headed over to Fresh and Easy. I sometimes find money in the change trays there but no luck today. 


As I was walking out of the store, I spotted these two pennies though on the sidewalk. They were in a line like someone had a hole in their pocket and tinkle tinkle down went the coins!

Watched Someone Drop a Penny and I Got It

Today I ran some errands including going to the gas station. I don't drive much so only fill up every 3 or 4 weeks usually. The pump wasn't working right; I couldn't change the choice of gas from diesel to regular unleaded. So I had to go inside to have the cashier void my credit card at the pump. 

While I was standing in line, there was a woman and a man in line in front of me. The woman (a girl really in her teens or early 20s maybe) dropped a penny when she got her change. She knew she dropped it but left without picking it up. Then the guy paid for his lottery tickets. He didn't pick it up either! 

SCORE! This is the first time I've seen someone drop money and just ignore it. Amazing! That explains a lot about why there's so much change floating around, I guess.
