I went to volunteer at Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic today then to the Scottsdale Civic Center Library. They had a couple of movies on hold for me (the first season of The United States of Tara, for one! I can't wait to watch it since I don't have Showtime!). And what did I find? You guessed it. A penny!
This photo is a reenactment. I didn't have my camera handy, so I took this photo when I got home. The penny was tucked almost under a bookcase, tails up). So even though this isn't a "live" shot, it is THE penny.

Grapefruit and a Penny
I was out riding my bike and rode through the drive through lane of a bank. Nothing, just a couple of cars in the ATM lane. Then in front of the drive through, I spotted this penny. As you can see, it's in pretty rough shape with the silver showing through in a few places.
This picture is another re-enactment because the first car pulled out of the drive through lane as I stopped to pick up this sucker. Instead of getting hit or causing a small traffic jam by taking a picture, I scooped it up and went on my way.
Later, I rode by a house with a box that read "Free Grapefruit." So, I stopped and bagged up 6 of those suckers. I love free stuff!

Found a Penny
Went for a walk today with two of my grandkids. Saw some chickens. Smelled some flowering bushes. Picked an orange blossom just to see what it looked like. Watched a waterfall in an overflow reservoir. Found a penny.

Guest Blog -- Famous Found Money!
Since I'm having a found money dry spell and my friend Lori, who lives in Maryland, told me about some pretty special found money, I asked her if she wanted to be a guest blogger. She said sure!
So, here's the picture and Lori's great description of this famous found money. Thanks, Lori!
Attached is THE photo showing the found money at Ben's Chili Bowl in SE DC - this is the same Ben's Chili Bowl where Bill Cosby and Obama dine on chili dogs and cheese fries. Now, I was quite surprised to go into the ladies room and find a penny! That's right - one red cent! I have no idea what story that one penny could tell but decided to leave it there for someone else to enjoy and imagine about. Not sure, either, what it says about the economy but the fact that it was still there gives me some optimism that people aren't counting pennies as they once were!
And if you'd like to read more by Lori, check out her blog, Tales of a Summer with a 91 (Now 93!) Year Old, and Lori's eHow articles. Thanks again, Lori!

Two Pennies in a Fountain (Hills store)
Today I was in Fountain Hills, Arizona, a fancy, isolated little town at a store, and as I was leaving, I spotted two pennies on the floor by a coin machine. You know, one of those big green clunky contraptions that you pour your money in and something spits out. I have no idea. A sheet of paper to redeem somewhere? Dollar bills? Coins for the change that don't quite add up to a dollar? I don't know. I've never used one.
But I found these two pennies on the floor. Couldn't pour them in? I don't know. But duh. There are some lazy people out there.

Road Burn
Tonight as I was leaving the grocery store parking lot, I spotted a penny out my side car window. I had just backed out of the parking space and a truck was behind me, but that didn't stop my pursuit of the penny. No!
I braked, opened my car door, put the car in park, and leaned out to get the penny. The penny was farther away than I thought and I got road burn on the hand I reached with. It's a memory already. Gone.
So here's the penny. It's seen better days, for sure. Very beat up. Like Abe got in a fight and lost.
