Happy New Year, 2024 and So Long, 2023

Well, here we are. The end of another year. I think this will be the end of my found money blog. I think it's run its course, but I've enjoyed tracking my found money these past 14 years.

Since my last (first) post of 2023, I found another $4.27. That makes 2023's whopping total $24.59. It still amazes me when I find money. It's great!

Here are my stats:

My Found Money Journey

Found Money By Year
2010: $10.68
2011: $4.91
2012: $15.50

2014: $46.61
2015: $100.35
2016: $39.64

2020: $64.57
2021: $57.52

It's 2023? Nobody Told Me!

Just kidding. I know it's 2023, but early this year I got a new laptop. My blog info was open on a tab on my old laptop, and even though I've thought about it many times, I just didn't get around to figuring out the blog link on the new computer till today. Even then I fired up the old laptop to find it. I knew that would be easiest.

And there it was.

And here it is now since I emailed the link to myself. So, I'm on my new laptop writing this because the old computer is just so foreign to me now. Isn't that funny how that happens? We freak out about change then to consider changing back isn't comfortable either. Oh well.

But enough of that. I have actually found quite a bit of moolah this year. Let me see how much.

Okay, I'm back. I had to count it.

So far this year I've found $20.32 US. Yippee! I also found 3 foreign coins:  2 Mexican $2 coins and an Israeli 10 cent coin (a shekel?). I don't remember where I found it but I'm pretty sure it's the first coin I've found from Israel. I know I found it before the madness began there. So very very sad.

I've been reading the latest Ann Cleeves' book, The Raging Storm. It's good, like her others, but it's taking me F-O-R-E-V-E-R to finish it. In fact, I only have about 30 pages left and I think when I hit publish here, I'm going to grab it and read whodunit. I really don't know who it is.

So, what about you? What are you reading? And more importantly, have you found any money this year?

This Year Is Done, Welcome 2023

Well, here we are. The end of 2022 is hours away. It's been a tough year in many ways and okay in others. We'll see what 2023 brings.

I feel a little letdown with my found money total this year, but it's better than a kick in the butt, I suppose. A whopping $29.40. I found $3.71 since I last posted plus a Chinese coin (or maybe it's a token) and a round thing marked Toscana. Oh, and I found a 1939 wheat penny. Love finding those!

I'm feeling a little nostalgic this evening as the old year disappears. I've been watching Downton Abbey on PBS. When it first aired, my friend Mary, loved it. So much. But she was sick and didn't get to see even the first season play out. And there are six seasons, and she would have loved them all. The drama of it all!

So, what about you? Found any money lately?

Still Finding Money

Well, not much going on around here, but I took the time to count my found money the other day so here goes.

Since I last posted I've found $4.80 plus three foreign coins:  a Bahamas 25 cent coin and two Mexican $1 coins.

I just finished (like 5 minutes ago) reading Selma Blair's memoir. It was good and painful, I suppose just like life.

So, what about you? Found any money lately?

Found a Mess of Dollar Bills!

I know it's been awhile since I last posted (2 months to the day), and that's normal for me. So no biggie. Right?

My one big find in these past 2 months was one day when I was walking into a store. I was in the parking lot, almost to the doors of the store. On the pavement, I noticed a white envelope, like you get from a bank or credit when you withdraw cash. So... I scooped it up.

I was actually excited thinking it might be full of big bills, and lots of them! And my mind next went to:  "Well, I'm sorry if someone lost this if it has lots of cash inside. What would I do then?"

I looked inside, and it had six bills inside, which isn't bad. But they were all dollar bills. So, that's okay. I wasn't worried about someone losing that amount of money and immediately thought, "Okay, I can keep this money without much worry about who lost it."

I mean, sure, if someone really needed it, that would be sad, but it's not as sad as if they lost $120 (if the 6 bills had all been twenties and not ones).

Anyway, I got over all that right quick and felt lucky!

In addition to the $6 I found, I found quite a bit of change:  $3.80 worth! That makes $9.80 I found in 2 months. And that's a lot to me in that amount of time.

Oh, and I found a Mexican coin. Yay! Love finding foreign coins.

I'm gearing up to make some found object robots and will be using a rotary tool to help me out. We'll see how it goes.

So, what about you? Found any money lately?

Found a Dollar Bill and a Whole Lotta Change

So, it's been forever and a day since I last posted here. I've been finding money; that's not the problem. I'm just busy, I guess (finding money! and doing other stuff).

Since I last posted I've found US money and some foreign coins and some tokens! Yay! In total I found $5.38 since I last posted. See the breakdown of what I found below.

My little ceramic bowl shown over there was full to the brim, so I knew it was time to post.

Oh! I recently got some of these wonderful shoes. Since I have bunions, many many shoes don't fit right. They pinch and press against my bunions. These don't! They're wonderful!!!

So, what about you? Found any money lately?

2022 Found Money... Late to the game. Oh well!

Well, I've been meaning to post about my found money for 2022 but obviously other stuff caught my attention. How's your new year going? Mine is good. Keeping busy, staying out of trouble. I went to the bead show in Tucson and met up with some friends I hadn't seen in years. Fun times.

And I went to the Tucson Festival of Books. I heard a panel speak about the state of our world, basically. The panel was called Crisis of Trust, and it reminded me of how grateful I am that President Biden is in office.

The authors who spoke were Alexander Vindman, Tom Nichols, and Dave Pell. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Other than that, same old, same old pretty much.

Anyway, I'm going to tell you about my found money now. Here goes.

This year so far I've found $5.71. Not too bad for finding the random penny, nickel, etc., here and there.

The largest coin I've found is a quarter (well, 9 of them) but no bills yet this year. I am ever hopeful though!

I just walked to the grocery store and found 2 foreign coins just sitting there on the shelf of the coin machine. I guess the machine spit them out and the person didn't want them. Well, I do! And then while I walked through the parking lot and then a drive-through, I found 78 cents total !

Oh, see the picture? I also found that pink button and brown bead somewhere along the line.

How about you? Have you found any money lately?
