Stopped Traffic to Get a Penny

Well, I didn't actually stop traffic, but I was stopped in traffic.

Today I volunteered then ran some errands. On the way home, I was stopped at a red light. I spotted a penny on the pavement in the left turn lane. I quickly looked in the rear view mirror. No one coming at all, so I was sure I could hop out and grab the penny before a car came, either behind me or in the turn lane.

I was right. I snapped up the penny and was back in the car buckled up before the light turned green. A dime yesterday, a penny today. Hot diggedy!

So, as I drove home I wondered:  Am I the only one who would get out of the car at a red light for a penny? Have you ever? Would you? I'm curious to know.

Found a Marble and a Dime!

Today I ran to Walmart (well, actually I drove) and found a marble on the floor. Even though it wasn't money, I was excited. I looked around to see if it fell out of a game or something but I didn't spot anything so I pocketed it.

I bought my printer toner and drove to the post office. When I was leaving, I spotted a dime on the sidewalk! YAY!!

So, when I got home I set the dime and the marble next to my doodles I've been doing. These are called Zentangles. Have you heard of them? They are very fun to make.  I wrote an article about doodling if you want to try if for yourself. Good times, let me tell you.

Have you found any money lately? Any marbles? Please let us know!

Money Museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado

I lived in Colorado Springs for a few years and drove by the money museum numerous times. This review on ParkGrades.com reminded me of the museum, which is run by the American Numismatic Association, if you're in a fancy word mood.

Pennies in the Laundry -- Guest Post by Virginia Allain

Today's found money comes from my online friend, Virginia Allain.

Someone ahead of me at the laundry room, lost four pennies. I was the lucky one to find them. Maybe they don't empty their pockets before throwing things in the laundry basket. Apparently they don't check the washing machine when they remove the load or they would have seen them. I'm paranoid, so I always check for left-behind socks in the washer and dryer after I use them.

Withdrew Cash at the Bank and Found a Quarter!

I'm heading to Illinois to a wedding soon and stopped by the bank to get some cash today after volunteering. I'm such a dinosaur that I never use my debit card for cash. I'd even forgotten the PIN, so I changed that while I was there too. I withdrew some cash to take and as I was walking to my car,  I spotted this quarter in the parking lot!

It's a beautiful Maryland state quarter from 2000.

It makes perfect sense to me that I should find money at a bank, but this is one of the few times I have. I know I've spotted some loose coins in banks' drive-through lanes when I've been riding my bike. Anyway, I was thrilled to spot this bad boy.

Have you found any money lately? Where? When? What were you doing? Was it money related?

Found Two Cents and a Rock to Paint

I ran some errands this morning, first to the thrift store (half off day!) and found a penny as I got out of my car and was walking in. Yay! Then I drove to Dollar Tree (needed gift wrap, coffee filters, all that stuff that I see no sense paying more than a buck for) and found another penny  on the sidewalk right in front of the door. Yay! Yay!

I also found the little rock on the right in the photo. I've been doing some rock painting and thought he had a good roundness to him. We'll see what I come up with. Here's a link to my Rock Painting -- How to Paint Rocks article. So far, I've painted the ladybug who's eyeing those pennies, a cat, and a snake. I need lots more practice. Have you ever painted on rocks?

Let us know if you've found any money lately.

Found a Penny on a Walk in Tucson

I went to Tucson yesterday to see my cute little grandson. We walked to the Neighborhood Wal-mart (one of those Wal-marts that only sell groceries and a few toys, as you'll see below). On the way to the store, I found this penny! My grandson carried it all the way to the store then finally relinquished it when we were walking back home when he decided he needed his hands free to carry something else.

When we got back home, I officially traded him the penny for some change from my purse. He seemed happy with that. And here is Jameson with his Monster Truck he picked out at Wal-mart. He was a very good driver!

Have you found any money lately?
